205.47.

Actually, it’s the amount of money one of my sites has earned on AdSense during the past 30 days. So why have I called it my score?

I used to play computer games quite a lot. I’ve had some times when I spent a long time during the night playing them, and only went to bed around 3:00 to 4:00 a.m.

I still tend to go to bed around 3:00 to 4:00 a.m., but I don’t often play computer games any more. Being a family man is somewhat incompatible with that.

What’s all this got to do with internet marketing, I hear you say? Simply this:

Whenever I play computer games, I am highly motivated to succeed at them.

Success can take many forms. It can be to achieve the highest score possible within a given amount of time. It can be to complete a fixed goal within a defined time frame. It can be to beat an opponent.

If I think of internet marketing as work (which, of course, it is), I am reminded of all the negative connotations associated with work. I don’t automatically think of the dream lifestyle; I don’t even know what that is, as the tag-line for this blog suggests. (At the time of writing, it reads, “Chasing the dream… and finding out exactly what that means.”)

Instead, I tend to think of the issues that I have with money at present. The bills that need to be paid, month after month. The credit card interest, and feeling bad because I have some unpaid interest at the moment that I really should have shifted onto a 0% interest card by now, but haven’t, for some unknown reason. The fact that I don’t have much of a buffer if the smelly stuff hits the fan, and the potential consequences if that occurs.

How does that make me feel? Not exactly great.

What if it was a computer game? Losing doesn’t matter. You just try again. But I do find it much more motivating to achieve a high score at a computer game. Strange, isn’t it?

So, my latest idea is to play an internet marketing “game.” I will “play” the “game” each week. The rules are as follows:

The score each week is the gross revenue earned by the site during the past 30 days in all ways for which the site is monetized in pounds sterling. Any amounts paid during the past 30 days for anything in connection with the site, except taxes, is subtracted from the score.

The game is won each week if the score improves on the previous best score by 5% or greater.

The score is determined on Monday mornings or later.

The 30-day period ends on Saturday. This is because reporting of profits sometimes takes a little while to come through.

For simplicity, all time zones are assumed to be the same. (The AdSense time zone usually starts and ends at 08:00 each day my time.)

Any currency conversions required to be carried out to calculate the score will assume the HMRC published average for year to 31 March of the previous year. At present, I trade only in pounds and US dollars, so the only exchange rate that applies is $1 = £0.62649.

Now, 5% sounds quite achievable and realistic, doesn’t it? Well, the good thing about this is that when I achieve 52 wins, a quick spreadsheet calculation reveals that my score will be at least 2597.72.

Now we’re talking real money. If I get up to that level of income, I will be extremely pleased about it. I will be thinking about going full time if I haven’t already.

There’s just one more issue that I have to resolve. How am I going to achieve this if I am working a standard 9-7 day during the weekdays and I still have a family to deal with in the evenings?

I need to figure that out. At least one thing I will be doing to accomplish that is to do some outsourcing. Getting contractors to do what you want on the internet can be very inexpensive these days. I found that out from Rachel Rofe’s report called Happy Outsourcing. I read through it over the past few days and it’s amazing what you can do with internet contractors, and how cheaply you can do it, if you are in the know about where to go to get each type of task done effectively. Rachel’s qualifications are listed on the sales page, but as she founded the Burn Your To-Do List site, frankly, that’s good enough for me!

Another thing about me is that there are techniques that I know from personal experience work, and work well, but I don’t enjoy doing them. I wouldn’t mind paying someone to do these for me at the rates the report suggests can be achieved.

What do you think of my strategy? Let me know. I’ll definitely appreciate it.

Now, I’ve got some work to do…

I’m not hugely successful with list building, primarily because I’m not very diligent about maintaining the relationships I create using the technique, but I do know a formula that works to get people signed up to your mailing lists. It builds up a targeted list of prospects over time, and you can be successful with next to no traffic. This is my Christmas present to you in 2010, disregarding the fact that I am not in any way religious.

You will generate your traffic using PPC marketing (Google AdWords or the Bing and Yahoo! equivalents; I recommend Matt Levenhagen’s membership Xtreme Profits if you need to learn more about that) or search engine optimisation on a specific keyword (my favourite SEO training product is Paul Counts’s Traffic and SEO Course, available from me at a considerable discount; Paul sells it for $67 at the time of writing).

You have to be able to target a specific keyword with the product you want to use to build your list. This should be a generic name and not a brand. Where I have been successful with this approach is in using it to give away scripts, but it could be equally apply to typical PLR training courses and informational products.

I put up a product for people to download on the squeeze page itself, so that prospects can download the product without signing up to your list. There are two reasons for doing this:

If you are using AdWords, you need to be able to provide what you say you provide on the ad within a very short number of clicks. Whereas squeeze pages are not explicitly forbidden in the AdWords terms, they are now frowned upon because Google don’t want you grabbing personal information that they see as unnecessary. In this way, I can satisfy the terms of AdWords by providing a single-click access to the product.

It allows me to advertise that the product being offered is completely free. Such an ad is a high-quality ad that will attract a good click-through rate, which is an essential aspect to AdWords marketing.

I am focusing on AdWords with this technique, so you may not need to do this if you are purely using SEO.

So how can you get them signed up? I use specific psychological language to achieve this:

Here’s the [insert product name] you wanted.

[insert link to product download]

But the version you really want is this one!

[Now add a description of a better product that is available for the signup].

What do I mean by a better product? A more souped-up version. For example, if it is an instructional product, the sign-up version could include videos. If it is a script, the sign-up version could have more powerful features.

You could try charging for this. I’m considering this with one of my products to find out whether it works well or not.

In tests, I have achieved a 40% opt-in rate using this approach (with a better, free product available after the opt-in is accomplished).

Download links for the better, free product should be in the emails to make it more likely that you are getting a good address that is read often.

Here’s where you can recoup at least some of your investment in PPC traffic, if not more, immediately. You could offer a one-time offer after your list completes the sign-up. If you are using single opt-in, make the offer just after the click here to subscribe button. If you are using double opt-in, make the offer just after the click here to confirm link is selected. One-time offers convert well, and if you need a script that provides the functionality required, you can find my one-time offer script here; this is marketed using this very same technique. If you’re already signed up to one of my mailing list, you’ll need to sign up to another one to get the best one I offer.

I hope you find this information useful. If you read it as a result of being on my mailing list, I would like the opportunity to wish you a good Christmas and a happy new year, whether or not you are religious. As I stated above, I am not religious, but I enjoy celebrating Christmas with my family; I consider it a choice to do so. I won’t go on, lest this post become a rant!

I wrote a while back about my problems with mindset, and I thought it was time to update on what I’ve achieved in the mean time, and what I have learned.

As many of you know, I have a family to look after, and as of this time I must maintain my full-time job to pay the mortgage, etc. So the time I can spend on internet marketing is limited.

I can sell internet marketing how-to-make-your-next-million type products, but I have to be honest about this: I don’t enjoy it. I know there are things about business that you will never get to enjoy, like accounts, for example, but I also believe that at least some of business should be enjoyable. It should not end up being all hard slog.

Don’t get me wrong; I don’t have a problem selling material that purports to tell you how to make your next million. If I sell you an internet marketing product, it is up to you to learn from it, try it, and see if it works for you. I just want to do things in a different way.

I wrote in my last post on mindset that I should be developing more tools for internet marketers, and I may well do that in the future, but the problem with that approach is that it takes quite a lot of time, and I don’t have a lot of time. I have been advised to outsource this aspect of my business, but at this time I don’t know how to do that effectively.

So what am I doing?

For now, I have used two internet business models that are working for me:

selling products, which I’ve already talked about;

blogging.

I have never made a huge killing from it, but I have made respectable money from AdSense. Most of that has been through one blog which gets about 100 visitors a day, mainly from the search engines. It’s not in the internet marketing niche.

I have been working on making this more successful, and during the last month, I have pretty much doubled my income from that blog. I am also starting up other blogs.

I have invested in a couple of courses from Steven Resell on blogging, and putting some of the information into action has caused that doubling of income. I haven’t recouped my investment yet, but I will do it within six months if I do nothing further at this point.

My reason for settling on this business model is that I can accomplish it in very small time units, and also I can see the effects of my endeavours relatively quickly.

If I am near to ranking in the first 10 for a keyword with reasonable levels of traffic, I can write an article and get it on ezinearticles with anchor text that will improve my ranking for that keyword. The only effect of doing that will be zero or positive. If it’s zero, it doesn’t really matter because it’s not something I’ve spent a working week’s worth of hours doing.

How do I find this low-hanging fruit? I am learning keyword research using Market Samurai which I have purchased, and if you don’t already have it, I strongly suggest you check out their training materials in the Market Samurai dojo, which show you how to use it and are free. Obviously the intent they have in producing these is to promote their product, but whether you decide to invest in the tool or not, it will give you a good grounding in SEO.

The other tip I would like to pass on today is how to find those keywords for which you rank just below page 1.

This won’t help a new site, but will help you if you have an established site. Register with Google Webmaster Tools (I’m also told that Bing Webmaster Tools is worth registering with) and validate your site with them. Click on Your Site on the Web, then Search Queries, and click to show All queries.

You get a list of keywords for which your site ranks which you can download as a spreadsheet if you wish. You get a report that shows you the average position of a page on your site for each keyword. Look for those that show, say, 11 to 15. You also get an idea of the traffic each keyword gets, and the impressions YOU are getting for that search (which will obviously go up a great deal if you can get on page 1). The chances are that if you are already ranking for a phrase, then you can improve that ranking with relatively little link-building.

You need to find out the page on your site that is ranking for that term. Either search Google itself or look at your analytics to do this. (You do have Google Analytics set up, don’t you?)

Then just write an article, use the keyword or something containing the keyword that is appropriate to your page as your anchor text, and submit to a dofollow article directory such as ezinearticles. Submit to several to multiply the effect.

My other tip is that currently in Labs there is a Site Performance feature. Google say they use the time a page takes to load up as one of their ranking metrics, and I believe it.

I have been using that feature and improving the access time of my site (which is on shared hosting, by the way). I haven’t done much in the way of link building over the last month, but I have seen traffic build up quite a bit.

Google Webmaster Tools makes suggestions for you, but only based on what the Google robot has found, i.e. you can’t make changes live and see the result. However, they also provide you with a link to a Firefox plugin that will add a feature to Firebug to test your page’s speed live, and make suggestions.

I did that, and found out that the theme I was using had many additional CSS files that were being requested. I changed to a different theme that did not use several independent CSS files.

I did that last Tuesday.

It is now Monday morning, and I can already see an increase in the number of impressions being reported for Wednesday by Google Webmaster Tools. In addition, my AdSense figures are up for the last three days. I think one of them is a record for me, actually.

By the way, I haven’t seen anybody else advise the above, so this may well be worth taking to heart.

What do you think? Am I barking mad, or have I hit on something here? Please add a comment with your thoughts.

I am very excited today. I have just published my first physical book, Double Your Website Sales!

As with all things, there was a process to go through to get this achieved, and I’m going to write about it here.

The first thing to do was to produce the manuscript. I did that with my favourite word processor, OpenOffice.org Writer. It would have been pretty simple to use Microsoft Word for this purpose; the reasons I didn’t were that (a) I haven’t got it, and (b) I don’t like the latest version with the ribbon bar that takes up so much screen space.

Manuscript completed, I had to format the book. There are various options that CreateSpace provides you with. These vary depending on whether you are producing a black-and-white or colour book, and if you want to take advantage of certain distribution outlets, you have to use industry-standard sizes. I settled on 5″ by 8″, the smallest black-and-white format available.

CreateSpace will publish books that are at least 24 pages in size, but extended distribution requires a minimum of 48 pages. Luckily, setting the book in 12-point Times New Roman, and formatting the content properly, brought the total number of pages required to exactly 48. The margin sizes I used are not ridiculous; the book is quite small, but looks normal.

I was already aware of CreateSpace and had set up an account with them a few months ago, but I owe my motivation to produce this book to Jason Fladlien, and specifically his product eclass training. Nevertheless, I did not entirely follow his approach. He works on his products until they are “good enough,” and then gets them done and selling. There is no wasted time with his products. His argument is that the customer is interested in the information.

I reservedly agree, but I do want to take a bit longer over my products and dot the i’s and cross the t’s a little. So I spent some time formatting my book to make it look like a properly-published book.

I searched through the CreateSpace forums and found an excellent resource on book design here that deserves some link juice:

Build Your Book

If you check it out, you will find that there are sections called front matter, body matter and back matter. Researching more about this, I found that the rules are pretty basic, but a short work should have the following sequence of pages:

The first page is the half-title page. This is the title of your work, without the subtitle or any other information.

The second page should list other works of the author, a frontispiece, or be part of the full-title page. It is OK for this page to be blank.

The third page is the full-title page. It contains the title, the subtitle, and the name, city and country of the publisher.

The fourth page is the copyright page. Full details of the copyright should be listed here, along with the first date of publication, whether the work has been published before, the ISBN (which in my case was obtained from CreateSpace for free), and any legal notices.

There may be other pages that are additionally part of the front matter, but if there are not, then you can launch into the contents page, which is what I did.

None of the above front matter pages should have page numbers on them.

Then, launching into the body, each chapter should start on a right-hand page. That page should not have a header, but a footer page number is OK. Subsequent pages of the chapter should have a page number, and can also contain header information. It may be necessary to insert blank pages between some chapters, and these need not contain page numbers.

There can finally exist back matter. I didn’t use any back matter.

You have to produce a PDF for your book, and it should be formatted like a normal PDF, so you don’t have to worry about how it will be modified for printing. Page 1 is the right-hand side of the first leaf; page 2 is the left-hand side of the first leaf; page 3 is the right-hand side of the second leaf; etc.

The next thing was to produce the cover. CreateSpace helps you to design this, or you can upload your own. I used the CreateSpace design. You can use a stock image on your front cover if you like. Given the topic of my book, I quickly produced a spreadsheet chart, and uploaded that. You input the title, the subtitle, and the text that appears on the back.

You can upload a picture of yourself for the book. All images need to be at least 300 dpi, and because I didn’t have a decent picture of myself to hand and I wanted to get it done, I took a picture of myself which looks pretty dodgy really! But it did the job.

You can also upload a publisher logo. It’s not necessary, but for this I used a logo that I designed years ago which appears on one of my other sites.

Then I had to order a proof copy, and wait for it to arrive. I ordered my proof on 8th October, and chose the cheapest delivery option. It arrived today (16th October), which was quicker than I expected it.

I checked over the proof. I messed up the justification slightly in the copyright page, but that’s no big deal. Everything else was OK, so I approved it.

I decided to pay the $39 to get my book into the Pro plan which gives me higher royalties and access to expanded distribution. For my book, priced at $9.99, my royalty will be $5.84 for a CreateSpace sale; $3.84 for an amazon.com sale; and $1.84 for an expanded distribution sale. If I had not paid the fee, the royalties would have been $4.33, $2.33, and nothing respectively; you also do not get into the expanded distribution network without paying the fee.

Paying the fee also means that any copies you purchase are cheaper. I wanted some copies for various purposes, so I purchased 10 copies of my own work at $21.50, plus $16.62 shipping to the UK. If I had not gone for the Pro plan, my copies would have cost $36.60.

Now that I have approved the book, it is already for sale in CreateSpace. It will appear on amazon.com within 15 business days, and it will become available on expanded distribution network in about six weeks.

As a UK publisher of a physical book, I am required under law to provide one copy to the Legal Deposit Office of the British Library within one month of publication, which is today. Details are here. I can also be compelled to provide five copies to the Agency for the Legal Deposit Libraries within one year of publication, of which details are here. Apparently, most publishers do this anyway, so I will do that.

Finally, how well will it do? Only time will tell. Amazon.com pioneered affiliate marketing, so the book could attract many affiliates without me doing anything. It may not! I don’t know.

People can search amazon.com and the site has good SEO, so the book could rank in the search engines for useful keywords.

The expanded distribution network includes US libraries and having used a CreateSpace ISBN, I have access to that, though to be honest, I’m not really expecting the book to do well on the expanded distribution network. But who knows? The content is worthwhile, and perhaps I can do a press release and get the word out.

I also have to get a tax identification number from the US version of the inland revenue and then submit a W8-BEN form to CreateSpace to qualify for a 0% tax withholding rate, otherwise my royalties will be taxed with 30% going to the US government before I see anything. I am in the process of applying for this.

As with many endeavours, one has to experiment to find out what works. If nothing else, having written and published a book will certainly elevate the way I am perceived within this niche.

Finally, I’d like to add that all of the content within the publication is written first-hand by me. I did not use any PLR content, public domain content, or anything like that.

If nothing else, it feels good! Please check it out, and if you like what you see, buy a copy!

I just discovered something important. It’s a change in the Google PageRank algorithm.

Firstly, a bit of SEO background. Each page on the web is assigned a given weighting known as PageRank. The amount of PageRank each page has generally depends on the following factors:

the number of external links pointing to it – that is, the number of links that exist on pages that have a different domain name to that of your site;

the number of internal links pointing to it – that is, the number of links that exist on pages within the same domain on your site;

for each individual link, the PageRank that applies to the page on which the link exists;

again, for each individual link, the number of links that occur on that page.

To avoid confusion, I need to make it clear that I am not talking about the general indication of PageRank that Google makes available, which is a number from 0 to 10 that gives a rough idea of the importance of each page in logarithmic terms. I am instead talking about the exact value Google assigns to each page, which is not revealed by Google.

Let’s say a page on the web attracts ten links from external websites. The page could have a “link juice factor” of 10. Let’s say this page has five outgoing links on it. Each link would pass a “juice factor” of 10/5 = 2, in simple terms.

Some time ago, Google introduced a rel=”nofollow” parameter that can appear in links. This was introduced because Web 2.0 sites generally allow site visitors to add active links to the site. For example, this occurs with blogs.

The purpose of this parameter is to indicate that the website owner does not endorse the content that appears on the external links. This is important because if you link to pages that Google considers spammy (“a bad neighbourhood”), your ranking in the search engine could be adversely affected. Using rel=”nofollow” indicates to the search engine that you did not place that link. It stops any link juice from flowing through the link that is declared as nofollow, and it stops your page from being adversely affected by linking out to spammy sites.

If a link was designated nofollow, it used to mean that all of the available link juice would go through all of the links on the page that were not designated nofollow. So, for our hypothetical page with five external links, if one of those links was designated nofollow, the remaining four links would pass a link juice factor of 10/4 = 2.5.

This changed a couple of years ago. Now it is the case that if a link is designated NoFollow, the link juice that would have gone through that link simply evaporates. So for our page, each link passes a link juice factor of 10/5 = 2, except for the nofollow link which passes no link juice.

This has a huge effect on popular blogs which may have a large number of links in comments. These links are usually external links and declared nofollow by the blog.

For more detail, please refer to this article from Matt Cutts.

If you want to preserve the link juice for your site, you need to come up with a way to limit the number of nofollow links on your site. I am only going to make a suggestion as far as WordPress is concerned (and I’m not running the plugin I’m going to talk about on this blog at the time of writing). That suggestion is as follows:

The SEO Super Comments plugin.

It doesn’t solve the problem, because any links in the comments themselves will still be active nofollow links. What it does is to create a new page for every comment left by a user, and the link at the start of the comment that would have directed a user off-site (and been nofollow) will be changed to a link to a new page on your blog that just shows the comment (which is not nofollow). That new page will have the original comment link intact. So it mitigates the problem, because instead of losing all that extra link juice, the link juice goes to the special page that exists because of the comment posted, and since that page has all of your regular links on it, the link juice will flow back to those pages on your blog.

The only other option that I am aware of is to create links that Googlebot can’t follow, e.g. using flash. Be careful with Javascript, because Googlebot does follow some of Javascript now.

What’s your opinion? I don’t think I’ve come up with the ultimate solution here, so please add your thoughts.

How To Start Tracking Sales Page Variations That Could Double Your Sales In Under An Hour!

I can show you how to set up experiments to track minor changes to your copy that can easily result in tons more sales and make a real difference to your bottom line. Yes, without spending more money on advertising, without wasting more time with search engine optimization trying to get to the top of Google, and without the need to generate more traffic in any other way, just as long as you have some traffic. And if you act today, you can practically steal it for just $6.94!

Here’s How it Works!

You decide upon a change to your sales page that you want to test. That could be as big as a completely new sales page or as small as a change in the colour of your headline. Then you add some simple code to your sales page and some to your thank-you page. The code comes from a free tool that shows variations of your sales pages to your visitors at random, and tracks the conversion rates of each page. You then just wait and see which performs the best! And then you do it again. And again. And again…

Find out how to track your variations scientifically, so you know which variation performs best at the end of each experiment.

Discover just how quickly you can set new experiments going. It’s far quicker to do than you think!

Become well-versed in the easy way to test changes to several parts of your sales page at the same time!

It’s the obvious and yet little-used technique that your competitors probably aren’t using, so use it to crush them!

Make extra profits that you could reinvest in higher keyword bids to gain that coveted top spot in the search engine listings for your best keywords and accelerate your growth through the roof – or just keep those extra profits for yourself!

Works with sales pages, squeeze pages, affiliate sign-ups, or any other action you want to track where somebody visits pages to which you can add code!

Find out about a free resource for Windows that makes the necessary editing of your web pages simple!

As you run more experiments, learn what works and what doesn’t, and improve your copywriting skills!

If you’ve never tried to optimize your sales process before, find out how it can be a realistic goal to double your sales!

Discover the best types of conversion to use and the best way to get your experiments concluded as quickly as possible!

Find out exactly where in your sales funnel this form of testing will be most effective!

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Google.

They are of course the most popular search engine in the world at this time, yet I still get frustrated by some of the results I get from them, especially when I’m looking up programming terms.

Google AdWords wants too much money for some of the phrases I would like to use to send traffic to my web pages, yet since we are talking about Google, they don’t tell you how you can improve your quality score for landing pages to reduce the fees you pay.

I also find some of the things they say very arrogant.

Yet, they do some good stuff, and one of the things I’m going to talk about today is something that I haven’t seen any of the “usual suspects” promoting. Probably because there’s no money in it.

Google Webmaster Tools.

My favourite feature from this service at present is that once I have confirmed that I own a web site, which you do by uploading a file to your host or adding a meta tag to the head section of your web page, it gives me details of the keywords that I rank for on that site. It also gives me the number of impressions I am getting for the keywords I rank for in any given period, and it gives me click-through rates for organic listings.

Not only that, but the click-through rates are also presented in a tabular form, where you will see what the CTR is when your site ranks top, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th to 10th, 2nd page, or 3rd page or lower. It also tells you the number of impressions you got at that ranking level during the period, and the average position you held during that period.

Armed with this information, you can then go about optimising the relevant pages of your site for the given keyword, if it’s worthwhile to do so. You can make that decision by looking at the volume and estimating the number of clicks per unit period you would get if you optimised for that keyword.

What’s really great about this is that you can get all this information for free, without violating Google’s terms and conditions by scraping their results. It’s a good companion to Google Analytics, but it goes further.

If you want to make more money, use Google Analytics to find out what pages of your site and what keywords make you money and what the conversion rate of those pages and keywords are (and you can even do this for AdSense now), and optimise the keywords that are getting you conversions.

There’s a lot more stuff, too. You can see the external links to your site that Google knows about, and what pages they link to. You can see the anchor text that people are using to link to your site. You can see the most common keywords found on your site. You can see what your internal link structure is like. You can see how many Google subscribers there are to your feeds.

You can submit sitemaps, and find out how many of your pages are indexed. You can check your robots.txt file. If you’re moving a site, you can tell it about the change after you’ve set up your 301 redirects. You can speed up or slow down the rate at which Googlebot crawls your site content.

Google even scans for malware, and any detections will be shown in Webmaster Tools. I am told that it may even tell you how to remove the malware if your site has been hacked.

It can also tell you generally how fast your website is, and suggests ways of improving the load speed.

This is basically Google’s SEO toolkit, and perhaps that’s what they should have called it. I like it, and I thought I should tell you about it, just in case you weren’t aware of its existence.

Now Available As An Audiobook Edition—Exclusively From Here!

Please click here and listen to this special message from 5 Bucks a Day Junior reader David Thomas:
Play in MP3 format or Play in Ogg Vorbis format

From: Dennis Becker

Are you spending countless hours trying to make a success with Internet Marketing? Do you wonder if the “gurus” who show you their bank account statements are really pulling in those numbers, or are the photos doctored? Have you bought the e-Books, the CD/DVD courses, the reports, and spent more than you’ve earned? … You’re not alone, but you CAN break away.

What kind of income are you looking for? What have you tried already? How frustrated have you become? What are you willing to do to break away from your J.O.B., or maybe to just get some extra income so that you can pay down your debts, get a nicer home or car, or give your family what they deserve and you so desperately want to provide for them?

For less than the cost of a single dinner for 1 at a cheap (really cheap!) restaurant, you can learn how to give yourself and your family the lifestyle you and they are so deserving of. What will it take? An extra $50 a day? $100 a day? $200 a day? $500 a day? I reached that level, and more, and I’ll teach you how to get there, if you’re willing to take action, starting today.

How much time are you spending now chasing success? If you’re like millions of men and women with dreams of using their computers to generate full time or part time income, you’re ending up earning less per hour than the U.S. minimum wage. And some (like I was for almost three years) are actually losing money.

What if I told you that I believe that I can start you on the path to internet marketing success today? Would you be interested? Would you be willing to read my story? Would you believe that in October 2005, I was most likely even more frustrated than you are now, about this whole Internet Marketing business.

Let me tell you, I tried it all. The cost of the courses and the monthly expenditures on the paid membership sites were no object. I wanted it so bad. You name it, if someone said it worked, I bought it, I bought into it, and I tried it. Every new scheme I tried started out with high promise, and was recommended by someone who supposedly had made a fortune using those same techniques. But not me.

“… start making money with this method now …”

Dennis Becker’s 5 Bucks a Day strategy is brilliant in its simplicity. This is something that ANYBODY can (and should) put into practice IMMEDIATELY. I am dead serious when I say that you don’t need any additional skills to start making money with this method NOW. Whatever you already know how to do, no matter how insignificant you think that knowledge is, is enough to start TODAY. This information can be effectively put to use with absolutely any skill set, and no matter what your experience level, this information put into action can create incredible financial returns.

The journey. From 30 to 200, to 500, to 700 and beyond. This could be your journey too, once you learn the “5 Bucks a Day” strategy!

5 Bucks a Day (a.k.a. “5 Bucks a Day, Jr.”) is the story of how I finally realized not only my initial lofty income goals, but more. It isn’t about a new scheme or skill, so much as it is about a mental approach. 5 Bucks a Day is best described as a strategy. Once you understand the strategy (the same day you read 5 Bucks a Day for the first time), your life might change the same way mine changed when I envisioned this strategy for the first time.

What isn’t the “5 Bucks a Day” strategy?

The strategy is not “black hat”, “gray hat”, or “white hat”. The strategy is not something that will get you banned by the search engines. The strategy is not software or hardware. The strategy is not difficult or complicated. The strategy is not something that will require you to upgrade your computer, or your operating system. Best of all, the strategy is not expensive to learn or to implement, either in terms of time or of money.

The strategy is something that can work regardless of whether you intend to earn your income through affiliate marketing, merchandise sales, setting up AdSense sites, running eBay auctions, writing and distributing articles or press releases, or whatever other methods you use to market yourself or your sites. The strategy could be used for offline income generation as easily as online (though my background and the examples contained in the report are all online projects).

In fact, the strategy is something so simple that you’ll be frustrated that you didn’t think of it yourself. Or maybe you did, and just didn’t do anything about it!

“… help me break through to the next level …”

I’m in the same boat you were – this method of thinking is REALLY going to help me break through to the next level. The problem is that so many people “learn” the wrong way to do things from the start (me included), and build on that bad foundation (which I did). Honestly, I’m printing this off and going to read it ONCE A WEEK to make certain I change my methods and ways of thinking about my business. Thank you for this!! My advice – if you are thinking about purchasing this: Do it, print it, and sit down and read it. Put it under your pillow at night and absorb it through ESP. Don’t let it sit on your hard drive for all eternity!

Learn how I earned a $38,000 profit in just 2 months, just days after FIRST developing the “5 Bucks a Day” strategy!

Although I would guess that every reader of “5 Bucks a Day” will implement the strategy in a different way, I’m going to prime the pump by divulging my first project. Just days after the ah-ha moment that defined the strategy in my mind, I had implemented a project that made not just $5 a day, but over $38,000 profit in a 2-month period of time. Granted, that was unusual, lucky, can seldom be recreated, but it happened because of some specific easy to learn skills, and a mental strategy that caused me to be in the right place at the right time. How long did it take me to implement that particular project? About 2 hours.

Can you do the same thing? I can’t guarantee anything specifc (see the disclaimer below), but I can put into your hands, 5 minutes from now, a strategy that worked for me, and I’m fairly confident that it can work for you if you have the dedication and passion for success that I had.

“… almost could not sleep all night …”

Dennis, I bought and read your eBook last night and almost could not sleep all night thinking about it. It hit my sweet spot on the head. I am sure many of us are in the same predicament and I am grateful that you took the time to write about your experiences and how you got out of the slimy pit of “lack of success” many of us have dug for ourselves. All I have to say is: Awesome and Thanks!

You have a decision to make … fish or cut bait?

Are you curious yet? I’m not going to tell you any more about the strategy, you’ll have to read the report for yourself. There is very little fluff in 5 Bucks a Day, Jr., you’ll be able to read it in a single sitting. It’s short enough to encourage you to read it multiple times. Simple as the strategy is, there are some nuances that you’ll want to make sure you don’t miss, so multiple readings is recommended. If you want a large number of pages, sorry, go buy the latest and greatest $497 course on DVD.

Is “5 Bucks a Day” right for you?

If you’ve already tired of the hype that fills your email inbox every day, tired of spending money on new courses every week or month, tired of failing to make any progress, all I can say is maybe, just maybe, 5 Bucks a Day is for you. It worked for me, in fact it worked spectacularly for me. Plus, if you’ve read the testimonials above (all freely given, I assure you), you see what it’s done for others. Is it right for you? There’s only one way to find out, isn’t there?

Tell me why this is an offer I shouldn’t refuse!

Thousands have ordered the original 5 Bucks a Day report, and paid a much higher price. In fact, if you go here to our main web page, you’ll see that price and what they get for their money. One thing included with the full strategy is access to our members forum and all the bonuses inside.

I decided to offer a stand alone version of 5 Bucks a Day for those that want to get started on the road to success without a larger financial investment. For many, the book will be all they need.

If at a later date you decide you want full benefits of membership, you’ll be able to upgrade by only paying the difference in price between the then current fee and your purchase price here, so you won’t lose a thing.

I’m confident that 5 Bucks a Day will do for you what it’s done for so many others, and I’m making it easy on you to get started to the success you’ve only dreamed of so far.

What’s the difference between “5 Bucks a Day” and “5 Bucks a Day, Jr?”

The book is virtually the same in both cases. With 5 Bucks a Day, you receive follow up bonuses and attention by way of our membership site and forum, with the Jr. version, you’re not entitled to that service. That’s the only difference at this point. If you just want to read the book at this point, and find out what everyone is talking about, this is a great deal for you. You can join the membership site later if you choose to, after you’ve seen what the strategy can do for your income.

Ordering Information

Ordering is simple, easy, and guaranteed. The price? Unbelievable but true, no, you don’t have to pay us 5 bucks a day, all we’re asking is:

$19.99!

Why $19.99? Why so little? Why so much?

I’m charging $19.99 for this report, not more, not less, for the following reasons.

$19.99 puts the report within reach of the vast majority of people. It’s not too expensive for even the humblest beginning online businessperson.

Anyone who’s not serious enough about their financial future to invest the cost of a cheese pizza into this report isn’t going to take the time to use the methods laid out in the report anyway.

5 Bucks a Day has had an amazing effect on hundreds of earlier readers. Testimonials as simple as “thank you” to “wow” to “your report has been life changing” have made me want to get the message out to thousands more people all over the Internet. With your help, we’ll do that. I don’t want anyone to be discouraged by a price that they can’t afford.

This special version includes the audiobook edition that was recorded by David Thomas in addition to the normal product.

Remember, when you purchase “5 Bucks a Day, Jr.” for only $19.99, you’ll own one of the most talked about reports that’s come out in the last 6 months (go ahead, do a search with your favorite search engine for 5 bucks a day and you’ll see what I mean).

Make a life changing decision today, order “5 Bucks a Day, Jr.” What do you have to lose?

The 4-Hour E-Commerce Site Training Webinars was a 4-week course that I ran in February 2010. People paid to be on this course. It was aimed at people who can work computers and the web OK, but are not necessarily web publishers.

I intended to sell the recordings, but since WordPress has now moved on to version 3.0, I do not consider that the content is saleable any longer. However, I still think it is of value. It’s just that you would have to do some things differently from how the course describes it. You could either obtain the versions of the software used in the course (not recommended because of potential security issues) or you could use the current versions and change what needs to be done.

Here is the first webinar recording, Start Selling With WordPress (106 minutes approx):

What now? Well, I do webinars on other topics as well that may be useful to you, and the best way to be informed about those is to sign up to my mailing list. You will find a form at the top of the right-hand column that will allow you to do that.

You have the bulk of the course here, but there were some additional bonuses included in the commercial version of the webinar series, which were as follows:

Google Analytics Videos: Six videos covering how to use Google Analytics in greater depth;

Psychology of Copywriting: A 25-page report covering many aspects of how to write advertising copy, including master resale rights;

SEO For WordPress: 21 videos and a 15-page report covering search engine optimisation in greater detail than I do in my course, including master resale rights and a sales page;

WordPress PLR Themes: 100 WordPress themes, including private label rights, master resale rights and a sales page;

WordPress Website Secrets: A comprehensive 35-page report covering the WordPress platform in detail, including master resale rights and a sales page.

I have bundled these together as a package that I call the 4-hour E-Commerce Site Companion, and you can purchase it directly from this page. You will get access to a ZIP file that contains all of the products which is approx 195 megabytes in size.

There was also a copy of Paul Counts’s Traffic Generation and SEO Course awarded for successful completion of one of the challenges. That is available here. The price rises each time somebody purchases it up to a limit. I highly recommend the course, which is excellent value; please see the sales page for details.

Finally, if you think this content has been useful, please let other people know about it! You can send them to this page, or you can publish the video recordings directly in your own web pages if you wish. I have applied a Creative Commons non-commercial, no derivatives licence to the video content. By non-commercial use, I simply mean that the content should not be sold. You can sell advertising space around this content as you wish.

I will answer any comments as time permits. Thanks!

I’ve learned a lot about myself when I posted the Mindset Rant. This may in fact become a turning point for me. There are several points I now wish to make, which seem to me to be the most important. Again, the hope is that they will help people.

The Mindset Rant has been my most commented-on blog post, ever, except for one that isn’t in this niche where people are ranting about somebody else (not me). I have found ALL of the comments useful and I would like to thank EVERYONE for contributing to it. I would like to thank you even if you only read it.

I am NOT broken. I am human. There’s a big difference, but in mindset terms, if I think of myself as broken, that’s a problem. It’s not something I do most of the time.

Essentially, I’m still at what I would like to term an infancy stage of my internet marketing career. I am trying things out to find out what works and what doesn’t, and also what I enjoy and what I don’t enjoy. After all, just because a business model works doesn’t mean I should necessarily follow that path. If I don’t enjoy it, I shouldn’t be doing it, because I won’t succeed at it.

Especially in internet marketing, you can do too much training and take not enough action. I don’t have much time in which to do this at present due to the main job, other contracts that take up my time, and family commitments, and yet I still look at quite a lot of training material. I have to cut down on that to give me more time to act.

Even if you are looking at training material, you will not necessarily be able to duplicate a person’s method of success or business model because you are a different person with different experiences to that of the trainer.

Having a mentor may be useful. However, I believe the answer to this question lies with the individual. I have learned many things from books without having a teacher, including as it happens software engineering.

Once again, it hit home that the internet, using as it does the means of written word mainly for communication, is not the best way always to get ideas across. I believe I upset the owner of the Successful Photographers Club somewhat, which was not my intention.

I especially would like to highlight one thing that the owner of the Successful Photographers Club said. “Enjoy the journey.” I may not be achieving the level of success I desire, but I am still making achievements, and I should be proud of that. This is reinforcing the point that I should be doing what I enjoy doing, where possible. I don’t mean that to the exclusion of all else; I don’t particularly like book-keeping, but it has to be done. Still, it’s something that can be fielded out, at the right time.

We need goals, but for most of us it is likely that a purely monetary goal is not enticing enough for us to want to achieve it. If nothing would change in my life just through having a 7-figure bank balance, there’s no point having it. In fact, it would be bad for other people, because the money would be locked away.

Part of mindset is to work out who it is that I would like to be, which does not reconcile with who I am now, and does not necessarily reconcile with the approach I am taking at any given time.

Internet marketers sell a dream, but the gurus themselves are not living the dream. How could they remain gurus if they were? There are JVs to set up an maintain. There are new products to develop. There are e-commerce systems to put in place. The dream they sell is part of the copywriting process, i.e. it’s part of what makes you want to buy their products.

Some people may need management in the shape of accountability partners, or real partners who will tell them to get moving on something, to help them stop procrastinate.

I can come across as an opinionated git at times.

The theme I was using was not that brilliant when it came to threaded comments, so it had to go.

What am I doing about mindset?

I’m going to refocus my efforts on areas that I believe will work for me. For example, one of my weaknesses is organic traffic generation. I’ve seen a lot of products that tell me how to do it, and I know the basics of how to do it, but I tend to fall down at the actually doing it point. Actually, if I can do that, then I can set up a load of high-quality advertising websites and have done with it. Plenty of money to be made there.

I also need to work on myself. I clearly have self-esteem issues, and I do have a tendency to procrastination that I must work on. I stumbled upon a resource that I think will probably be rather useful in helping me work on these issues, which is the following:

http://www.psychologicalselfhelp.org/

It’s basically a free, online e-book, apparently taken from a published work, that takes you through many of these issues and discusses them. One of my problems is that I am somewhat in limbo, having reached a certain plateau in my life. I have achieved most of the things I want to do with my life. I need to work out what person I want to be, and this transcends internet marketing completely.

Please feel free to comment further. I will be reporting on my progress in this blog. Again, that is in the hope that this will help others.
