The 4-Hour E-Commerce Site Training Webinars was a 4-week course that I ran in February 2010. People paid to be on this course. It was aimed at people who can work computers and the web OK, but are not necessarily web publishers.
I intended to sell the recordings, but since WordPress has now moved on to version 3.0, I do not consider that the content is saleable any longer. However, I still think it is of value. It’s just that you would have to do some things differently from how the course describes it. You could either obtain the versions of the software used in the course (not recommended because of potential security issues) or you could use the current versions and change what needs to be done.
Here is the first webinar recording, Start Selling With WordPress (106 minutes approx):
The mind-map is here:

What now? Well, I do webinars on other topics as well that may be useful to you, and the best way to be informed about those is to sign up to my mailing list. You will find a form at the top of the right-hand column that will allow you to do that.
You have the bulk of the course here, but there were some additional bonuses included in the commercial version of the webinar series, which were as follows:
- Google Analytics Videos: Six videos covering how to use Google Analytics in greater depth;
- Psychology of Copywriting: A 25-page report covering many aspects of how to write advertising copy, including master resale rights;
- SEO For WordPress: 21 videos and a 15-page report covering search engine optimisation in greater detail than I do in my course, including master resale rights and a sales page;
- WordPress PLR Themes: 100 WordPress themes, including private label rights, master resale rights and a sales page;
- WordPress Website Secrets: A comprehensive 35-page report covering the WordPress platform in detail, including master resale rights and a sales page.
I have bundled these together as a package that I call the 4-hour E-Commerce Site Companion, and you can purchase it directly from this page. You will get access to a ZIP file that contains all of the products which is approx 195 megabytes in size.
There was also a copy of Paul Counts’s Traffic Generation and SEO Course awarded for successful completion of one of the challenges. That is available here. The price rises each time somebody purchases it up to a limit. I highly recommend the course, which is excellent value; please see the sales page for details.
Finally, if you think this content has been useful, please let other people know about it! You can send them to this page, or you can publish the video recordings directly in your own web pages if you wish. I have applied a Creative Commons non-commercial, no derivatives licence to the video content. By non-commercial use, I simply mean that the content should not be sold. You can sell advertising space around this content as you wish.
I will answer any comments as time permits. Thanks!
Hi David,
I love the content…it is a shame though that it is not as compatible with WP3
I’m still using WP2 version…I just got familiar with it and I’m nervous about changing. What is the overall benefit to using WP3 over the older version WP2 ?
I heard that this new version may still have some kinks that need to be fixed……do you have any opinion on this?
I’d love to hear from you

Hi Brocha,
There is no absolute need to change to WordPress version 3.0. I have installed it somewhere, but I haven’t played with it a great deal. For information on the changes, see the following page:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.0
All software has a tendency to have bugs at its initial release, mainly because it is impossible to test all combinations. In the case of WordPress, this means server software, often Apache but not always; PHP software; MySQL database; etc. Also, software such as WordPress has many plugins, some of which may be broken by a new software release (although I think eShop is OK).
There is no reason to immediately upgrade to the latest version unless you want to be on the “bleeding edge.” I would not recommend that you do so for production servers without testing beforehand.
The down side of not changing quickly is that you will not benefit from any enhancements, and that could especially include security updates. I would suggest not leaving it a great deal of time before upgrading; I have had two WordPress sites hacked until I had a chance to upgrade them. This cost me SEO rankings. However, I had left these for a long period.

Hi David,
thank you for getting back to me on this. I would upgrade right away but I’m nervous that some plug-ins I have won’t be compatible with new one. Do you happen to know if any of the popular plug-ins with WP2 are not compatible with WP3?
or as far as you know they all work with it
thanks, Brocha

Hi Brocha,
I don’t know of any with my own knowledge that are broken with 3.0. However, I recommend that you take the precautions shown in this article before you upgrade:
http://how-to-blog.tv/technical/wordpress-3-0-plug-in-test/
Basically, backup your blog (both database and files); upgrade all plugins to the latest version; deactivate all plugins; upgrade WordPress; reactivate each plugin one by one.
Hope this helps,
David

Hi David,
I appreciate the help. I’m so new to using WP I feel a bit intimidated by the tasks laid out here for me to do!
I’ll have to see if I can find someone to help me with this.
I’d love your opinion of David Tans new WP seo plug-in called seopressor……are you familiar with this at all?
here is the link I was sent by paul hooper
http://www.paul-hooper.com/recommends/seopressor
how powerful do you think this plug-in is?
Is it worthwhile investing in it?
I’m trying to limit my expenses but I am interested in excellent tools to help me though.
Hope you don’t mind my asking, I just thought you would be a good person to know

Hi Brocha,
It seems quite good. I don’t know about it and I haven’t heard of it before. I’m not sure I believe that 70,000 sites use it, though.
All of these types of tool tend to need to be worked, but they can give you a leg up on the competition. Be a little bit careful, though. If you use alt tags in images that are not relevant to the images and a human reviewer finds your site and sees that you’ve done that, you’re likely to get your site demerited – it will then lose rank.
The third webinar in the series which I shall publish soon is called Plugin Paradise, and some of the functionality for SEO is in that webinar, plus some other things that the plugin doesn’t appear to do.
I would suggest that you look at the plugins shown in the third webinar and try those first (they’re all free). If you then find that you have a specific keyword you want to rank for, grab the corresponding domain if you can (.com if possible, otherwise .net or .org), try blogging for a while with it with some article marketing with targeted keywords in the anchor text, and see if you can get ranked for your chosen keyword. If you can’t, then you may want to consider investing in this tool.
I would also suggest that if you do decide to invest, you go for the unlimited domains option – unless you have a narrow focus on a specific niche that you want to use the plugin for, and nothing else.

Brocha,
I normally use and test a lot of plugins, so I usually have a lot of plugins active/inactive on a given blog. So far, I have yet to come across any of the plugins that were not compatible with WP 3.0. Just be sure and run your WP database backup as recommended prior to the upgrade. That way you can always roll back to the prior version.
